Luxury Residences

Carved discreetly in the center of a private mini peninsula at Vgethi Keratea, this unique country villa follows the characteristic style of one of the most important architects of modernism in Greece, the great Aris Konstantinidis. The building is in complete harmony with the landscape, giving the impression of a natural construction that comes out of the earth itself. Stonewalls built of local stone, bare concrete and big wooden frames in dark brown colour are the main morphological elements of the house. The repairs and reconstructions, although quite extended, they fully respected the aesthetics of this wonderful architectural creation, in accordance with the owners' wish, giving it actually a second life almost 50 years after its birth. The bearing structure of the building was reinforced and locally rebuilt, the stonewalls were completed, where they had been thoroughly damaged, and fully grouted afterwards, while the wooden frames were replaced by new ones, identical copies of the originals. In the interior of the house and especially in its basement, the changes were bigger, in order to adapt the building to the modern needs of the new owners. However, its basic morphological characteristics were retained. Stonewalls and ceilings of bare concrete were repaired and reinforced, with special emphasis on the thermal insulation and waterproofing of the building, a sector in which it suffered significantly. The stone tiles of floors of the ground floor and the surrounding area were stripped, cleaned and then repositioned (and filled in with new ones where needed) on the same pattern as the original tiling. All mechanical installations and air conditioning system are new. The auxiliary areas of the basement were unified and completely upgraded as its walls were cleaned and re-grouted, while wooden parquet was laid on its floor.
