This wonderful residence, completed in 2018, is one of the most recent creations of Nicos Valsamakis, one of the most important contemporary architects in Europe, whose work has influenced the modern post-war architecture of Greece for more than 60 years. The large, thin slabs in combination with the continuous openings of the facades and the distinctive columns, create a sense of transparency and continuity of outdoor spaces with the interior of the house. The choice for the interior is the “timeless” combination of the natural wooden surface with the white colour. All floors of the main areas are laid with large oak planks, the external shutters are made of wood in natural colour, as well as many linings of fixed furniture. The ceilings and walls are white, just like the kitchen furniture and the bathrooms' marbles.
The spacious bathrooms of the residence are dominated by the pure simplicity of design and the whiteness of the marbles. The floors, the walls and the counters are dressed with large marble slabs, either Dionysus or Volakas marbles. The dominance of white is only interrupted by the wooden cabinets under the washbasins' counters.
The residence "reveals" its interior to the large private protected yard at the back of the plot. The landscaped garden and the pool are functionally integrated with the living areas and kitchen of the ground floor, as their extension. The large wooden sliding shutters of the facade can selectively secure the privacy of the interior, but may also be hidden entirely at one side, opening up the whole facade. The sense of continuity and transparency becomes even more intense in the evening, as indoor lighting neutralizes the reflection of the glazing, so that the interior of the house is theatrically projected in the outdoor space
