Villa in the Rock

Situated in the steeply inclined east face of the Ymittos mountain in Saronida (Athens), this luxurious residence was designed and constructed to take full advantage of its breathtaking views. The solid rock it rests upon was not merely used for foundation, but also as part of the structure itself, since several of its spaces use the exposed rock as a wall surface. Designed by the eminent Greek architects, MplusM, along with Lamis Shawwa for the interior, and Helli Pangalou for the landscape, the residence has many stunning features, including a cantilevered pool overflowing towards the steep cliff below, an impressive all-white Corian wall sculpted to appear as if it is pierced by light to form a beautiful Arabic calligraphic script, as well as an elegant seemingly-floating white marble staircase.
