Sounio Villa

This award-winning residence located in the coastal area of Legrena, right next to Cape Sounio (close to Athens), is one of the most stunning examples of minimum-footprint architecture. Designed by the renowned TPA Architects, the residence is a drastic restoration of a fifty-year-old structure. The semi-submerged, green-roofed concept of the building was not only preserved but also enhanced to create a truly ecologically novel form. The residence offers unhindered continuity between the built and natural space, and features extensive use of earthy materials such as oak, bronze, red brick, and honed concrete. The Sounio Villa was awarded 5th place in the category “Best Built Work of the years 2009-2013” by DΟΜĒS International Review of Architecture.
